The CommonSpot is both our shared office and our community. Our ability to thrive individually depends on our collective ability to foster a creative and collaborative working environment. Below is a simple summary of our evolving etiquette for sharing our space equitably and respectfully. This is a working document. We welcome suggestions!

  1. Be kind and show respect to our coworkers and visitors.

  2. When working in a coworking room, keep phone calls and video conferences at a minimum when others are in the room. For longer calls, please move to a phone booth, private office, or conference room if available.

  3. Clean up after yourself when using shared spaces. Please leave them clean, uncluttered, and ready for the next person.

  4. Please dispose of waste in the designated bins: compost, recycling, and garbage. Please avoid putting food waste in the garbage and rinse or wipe any food out of containers before disposing them in the garbage or recycling bins to reduce odor.

  5. Avoid adding odors to the space, as many people are sensitive to them.  This includes strong perfumes and colognes. Smoking is strictly forbidden in the building.

  6. Turn off lights or appliances that aren't being used, even if you didn't turn them on.

  7. If you are the last person to leave, turn off the lights, close all windows, and make sure the door to the third floor is shut.

  8. If you are the first to arrive, turn on the lights in the central rooms on either side of the arch.

  9. Let us know when something needs fixing or improving!

If you’ve worked here long enough, you’ll recognize that the CommonSpot coworking culture depends in part on who is sharing the room with you at any given time. So, please feel free to ask your coworkers if you can play some music, etc. Likewise, speak up if something is affecting your ability to work. As our community evolves, please let us know if you have any suggestions for the above list.  Thank you!
